Dark blue bubble tea shop

When you push open the glass door with a black metal frame, the first thing that catches your eye is not the menu, but a sensory field woven by deep blue, warm orange and soft gold – this is the third space created by “Sparkling Tea Lane” for urban young people. From the bar counter to the seats, from the lighting to the dome, every design responds to the contemporary demands for “relaxation” and “ceremony”. The following is a detailed breakdown of its spatial design:

The bar counter is the visual and functional core of the entire store and also the starting point of the customer flow. The designer adopted the “layered deconstruction” approach, breaking down the bar counter into three distinct layers of texture. This not only meets the practical needs of beverage making but also serves as the first focal point of spatial aesthetics

• Bottom base

It is cast with a light grey terrazzo countertop, retaining the granular texture of natural stone on the surface, creating a visual continuity with the same material as the floor. Meanwhile, the wear-resistant property of terrazzo perfectly matches the high-frequency bar counter scene. The front of the base is covered with a matte blue-gray finish, which contrasts with the deep sea blue of the wall, avoiding the oppressive feeling brought by a large area of dark color.

• Operating countertop

The white artificial stone is made in one piece and the surface is treated with matte finish, which not only avoids fingerprint residue but also gently reflects the top light. The edge of the countertop has been rounded by 2cm. When your fingertips glide over it, you can feel the sense of security brought by the delicate curvature – this is a detail specially added by the designer to prevent customers from bumping into it.

• Upper facade

The most distinctive design of this milk tea shop is the use of corrugated metal plates of the same style as the ceiling, extending from the left side to the right side of the bar counter. The undulating lines are like the waves of wheat blown by the wind, creating a “top-down response” rhythm with the arc-shaped waves of the ceiling. The warm copper-colored finish of the corrugated board glows with a lustrous sheen under the light, creating a material contrast with the cold glass of the wine rack at the back, making the bar counter visually more layered.

In terms of functional zoning, the bar counter is clearly divided into three areas: the left side is the food pick-up area, embedded with a luminous “Food Pick-up” sign, and the storage cabinet below is made of warm wood-colored shelves, neatly displaying mugs and related products. In the middle is the ordering area. The orange service counter is printed with the brand LOGO. There are grooves reserved for the mobile phone placement area and the menu sign on the counter, showing thoughtfulness in every detail.

On the right is the beverage making area. The black coffee machine and stainless steel shaker cups are hidden behind the wavy facade, ensuring both the privacy of the operation and maintaining a sense of visual tidiness. The three orange high stools in front of the bar counter, made of the same fabric as the chairs in the seating area, allow customers waiting to pick up their food to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the space in advance.

Seating area

Double table area: Arranged along the deep sea blue wall, each table is paired with two warm orange chairs. The wooden frames of the chairs are in a light walnut color, echoing the herringbone wood veneer on the floor. The desktop is made of light grey rock plate, and the edges have been ground, so there won’t be a shrill clashing sound when placing milk tea cups. The metal circular decorations on the walls are precisely located right above each table, creating a unique sense of “one table, one scene”, which is suitable for couples on dates or for best friends to sit for a while.

Central Island Counter: Located at the core of the space, it is composed of two terrazzo platforms of different heights. In the middle, a shaped black pine tree is planted, with its branches and leaves spreading out in all directions, like a natural screen, creating a semi-private social space for the surrounding customers. The high stools around the island counter are made of the same orange fabric as the bar counter, suitable for single people to have a quick meal or take a short break, and also convenient for light socializing among strangers.

Window area: Adjacent to floor-to-ceiling glass, on the outside is a flower bed planted with cacti, and on the inside is a deep blue booth sofa. The sofa is filled with high-elastic sponge, and the backrest height is just right to support the cervical vertebrae. When you sit here, you can not only view the street scene through the glass but also be wrapped in the sofa, giving you a sense of relaxation and security. The herringbone wood veneer on the floor extends to the window area, forming a material zoning with the terrazzo on the outside, hinting at the transition of the circulation from public to private.

Background wall design

The deep-sea blue walls and ceilings occupy 70% of the visual area, creating a calm base, like a “deep-sea oasis” in the city. The warm orange seats and the bar counter facade serve as embellishments, like the sunlight in the deep sea, instantly invigorating the space. The soft gold metal decorations (round wall decorations, chandelier frames, table and chair legs) play a role in harmonizing the warm and cool tones, making the color transition more natural and avoiding the jarring feeling caused by color clashing.

• Texture layers

The micro cement wall surface is treated with a hand-troweling process, retaining fine scratches and unevenness on the surface. When touched, one can feel the warmth of handwork. The color of the wall is not a single deep blue. Instead, during the plastering process, light gray and cobalt blue color pastes were mixed in, creating a natural color gradient. Just like the ocean current in the deep sea, it makes the wall present rich changes under different lighting conditions.

• Decorative rhythm

Six metal circular wall decorations are evenly distributed on the wall, each with a diameter of 60cm and a spacing of 1.8 meters, creating a strict visual rhythm. The surface of the wall decoration has undergone a brushed treatment, presenting a fine metallic texture under the light, which contrasts with the rough texture of the wall. Under each wall decoration hangs a small chandelier. The metal frame of the chandelier is in harmony with the material of the wall decoration, making the design of the entire background wall more integrated.
