Jewelry shop design
The first time I stood at the entrance of “Harinarayan Jewelry Store“, the first thing that caught my eye was its “contrast” with common jewelry stores – there was no flamboyant gilded sign, nor dazzling neon light strips, but with its simple tone, it made me unable to resist the urge to go in and have a look. The design of this store seems to have incorporated “refinement” into every corner, which not only upholds the preciousness of the jewelry but also does not make customers feel distant.

Storefront design
The design of the storefront is a typical “less is more”. The main body is a clean white rectangular frame, within which the store name in Hindi is embedded. The font has a simple metallic texture and there are no unnecessary decorations beside it. A circle of fine LED spotlights is hidden around the edge of the frame. The light is a soft warm white, which just highlights the signboard. Even if you pass by in the evening, you can clearly see the store name, but it won’t be as blinding as strong light.
The connection between the storefront and the interior is also very ingenious: the entrance does not have a thick glass door but adopts an open design, allowing passers-by to faintly see the layout of the interior – light-colored counters and soft lighting, as if silently inviting customers to “come in and have a look”. This kind of unassuming appeal is actually more appealing than straightforward promotion.

L-shaped main counter
Instead of using the heavy wooden cabinets of traditional jewelry stores, a light cream white color was chosen as the main tone. The corners of the cabinets were made with smooth arc-shaped transitions, avoiding the stiffness of right angles. The bottom of the counter is not made into a flat panel, but is decorated with fine vertical stripes for texture, and then inlaid with a narrow edge of light rose gold – this circle of gold edge does not overshadow the main point, but quietly enhances the refinement of the details, which perfectly echoes the metallic texture of the jewelry.

The countertop of the counter is made of highly transparent tempered glass, with the edges polished to a very smooth finish, and there is not a single burr when touched. Under the glass, soft LED base lights are embedded. The light is warm and soft. When necklaces and rings are placed on the countertop, the light will gently “support” the jewelry from below, making the luster of the gemstones’ facets and the fine texture of the metal more vivid, without making the jewelry look “dazzling” like strong light.
The most considerate feature is the soft cushion beside the counter. The light grey velvet cushion is laid on the marble floor, with a thickness just right for a comfortable sit. When customers are choosing jewelry, they can sit down and look at it slowly at any time without having to stand all the time. This practicality hidden behind the “good looks” makes people feel that this store “understands its customers” more than the luxurious decoration.

Wall display cabinet
Instead of creating a full wall of closed display cabinets, it was divided into four independent arched display compartments. Each compartment was outlined with fine rose gold lines – the arched shape exudes a touch of elegance from old-fashioned jewelry stores, yet lacks the heaviness commonly found in retro designs. The background of the display stand is a light beige diamond-patterned soft package, which not only adds a soft texture to the space but also softens the reflection of the light, preventing the displayed jewelry from looking messy.
Each display rack is embedded with two small spotlights. The light is directional warm light, precisely shining on the displayed necklaces and earrings. For instance, for the gold necklace hanging on the black display stand, the light will spread along the arc of the chain, making the luster of the metal look warm and elegant. The small spotlights beside the stud earrings will highlight the cross-section of the gemstones, allowing each small diamond to faintly glow.
