A cigar lounge that combines retail and lounge has to be designed to accommodate three main areas related to the product: preserving both the quality of the product, providing customers with access to retail, and ensuring the customer is comfortable while using the lounge. The Davidoff of Geneva locations provided demonstrate how custom commercial furniture, along with intentional design layouts, create an environment that integrates modern luxury with purposeful functionality within this smoke shop.

Design Theme
This cigar store follows an updated cigar lounge design style based on historical inspiration. The primary types of materials used are plank-grain wood with light to medium tone colours, giving it a warm yet light appearance, with neutral upholstery, and muted-metal finishes are included as accents. The color palette is limited (earthy browns, soft creams, and warm metallics), allowing customers to concentrate on the cigar presented and their comfort. Textural elements provide depth and interest without obstructing visibility. Therefore, the overall feel of the cigar lounge will be an attractive combination of timeless, classic, elegant, uncomplicated.

Cigars Retail & Displaying
A glass-enclosed humidification chamber with temperature and humidity control is the heart of this space. Custom wooden display cabinet lines the inside of the humidifying chamber, utilizing glass walls, customers can see the product on display, while still protecting them from temperature and humidity changes. The use of low-profile curved wooden display tables allows customers to see and handle premium cigar accessories . A wall-mounted wood slat system provides eye-level access to cigar boxes, along with recessed LED strip lights to enhance the appeal of both the box and the contents. Fixture furniture have been designed to scale to avoid crowding the space, creating an intentional and spacious space.

Lounge Furniture
The furniture includes leather armchairs, tufted upholstered lounge furniture and furniture that is modular – able to function as clusters, using small round tables, used for drinks and ashtray holders and other accessories, to create “intimate” areas in smoke shop. The cigar lounge clusters are separated from the retail area with the use of partial dividers, giving staff a clear line of sight to each other while still allowing them to create a more intimate feeling within each cluster. The lighting in this area is layered (clustered pendant light fixtures in warm brass, which provide a soft glow) as well as wall sconces, thus eliminating the need for overhead (bright) lighting and further enhancing the “cozy” and “comfortable” feeling of the room.

Cigar Lounge Layout
The first area needs to be visible as soon as customers enter the store. This space includes walk-in humidors, display cases for products, and cabinets for packaging materials. Staff members will have an unobstructed view of space from anywhere. The second area consists of seating for patrons. It is divided into two different types of seating arrangements. There are several smaller seating arrangements that create more intimate conversation areas for small groups and provide larger, more expansive seating arrangements that create a sense of community. Our design for the seating arrangement allows us to use furniture positions to naturally create conversation areas or pockets of seating, as well as allow our customers to move freely about the space.
